Good morning, everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Service yesterday was pointed directly at me for sure. I even asked the pastor if he had been stalking me for the last three weeks. He giggled and thanked me for paying attention. I told him, ‘no problem, my ribs will heal in time from all your rib shots’.” We both laughed. The overall premise for the sermon was FORGIVENESS.

When I pulled up to my house, one of the people that I needed to address was in my driveway. I literally looked at the roof of my car and asked sternly, “REALLY”. God and I had a quick conversation about how this was not funny. I took my books/notebook in the house, took a deep breath, walked outside, and had the conversation with the man. The entire time, my insides were jumping around telling me that he did not deserve an apology or forgiveness. But I obeyed my Father and now I am set free from that chain.

Later, I went for a walk with the bible plugged into my ears. I have not purposefully walked for exercise in about 2 years. It felt good and it hurt all at the same time. In that walk, I could hear His voice clearly. It was refreshing.

As I was scrolling through social media later in the day, I ran across one of those games that tells you something about yourself based either on your name or birthplace, or in this case, my birthday. The game said that our birthdays are linked to scripture verses. So, why not? Let’s see what bible verse lines up with my birthday (7-13). It landed on Mathew 7:13.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many will enter through it.”

I read that and laughed. My Social Media page is Narrow Pathways. I thought, ‘how fitting’.

With that in mind, I know that I still have two more people that I need to forgive. That the longer that I hold on to this bitterness, the more of a stronghold it will have on me. The more of a stronghold it possesses, the more difficult it will be to break. I have enough challenges before me not to add to the pile with something that can go away quickly.

The pastor used a quote that makes perfect sense: Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Forgiving someone does not mean that you condone or agree with their actions, only that you are not their judge and jury. WE are not going to be held accountable for our neighbor’s actions, only ours. We are commanded to (1) love unconditionally, (2) forgive 7 times 70 times (meaning do not keep track, just forgive).

Be blessed today my friends.

***This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you; God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. – 1 John 1:5-6
