😈 Why Do We Say the Devil Has the Authority of Death? The Lord our Creator did not give the devil any authority over us, nor even over irrational creation; because when he requested permission to enter the swine, their fall into the lake was a symbol of the end of the devil's power and authority. Even righteous Job was tempted in everything, but God did not give the tempter authority over Job's mind. So how did the devil gain the authority of death? First, deception united mankind and the devil together. When the enemy of our race fell from his rank, he caused man to fall; because he realized that man would take his inheritance. Therefore, the web of deception into which the unaware fall unites the devil and humans together. Even the wise among humans who rely on the wisdom of this world, when they fall, they enter into fellowship with the devil. He became the center of deception, and deception gathers these together. But despite that, the heart of a person immersed in his sins remains beyond the authority and power of the enemy, who does not know what goes on inside us of struggle, but can only "guess" it by observing our external reactions and behaviors which reveal the nature of what is happening inside us.
