Colossians 1:3-8 RSV
Colossians 1:3-8 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love which you have for all the saints,
because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of truth, the gospel
which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing--so among yourselves, for the day you heard and understood the grace of God in truth,
as you learned it from Ep'-a-phras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf
and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.
John 15:4-11 Abide in me, an I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned.
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples.
As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 14:11-17 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father,
"Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you for ever,
even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him; you know him, for he dwells with you, and will be in you.
John 16:16-24 "A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me."
Some of his disciples said to one another, 'What is this that he says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'; and 'because I go to the Father'?
They said, "What does he mean by 'a little while'? We do not know what he means."
Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him; so he said to them, "Is this what you are asking yourselves what I meant by saying, 'A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me'?
Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy.
When a woman is in travail she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but when she is delivered of the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for the joy that a child is born into the world
So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will will take your joy from you.
In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. Hitherto you have asked me nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
Ephesians 3:1-6 For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles--
assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you,
how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly
When you read this you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ,
which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
that is, how the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
Colossians 4:12-13 Ep'-a-phras, who is one of yourselves, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always remembering you earnestly in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.
For I bear him witness that he has worked hard for you and those in La-o-di-ce' ans; and in Hi-er-ap' o-lis.
