Good morning, everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Today marks 34 years with my husband. And let me tell you, I did not see this one coming. I met him for the first time when I was stationed in Germany. I did not know anything about him; except he was not my favorite person. Fast forward a little over two years, and God’s plan began. Now, 34 years later, we are still together. To add to that, we are prospering as he promised. WE are wealthy, in the sense that the world views it; however, we are wealthy in spirit and love. Early in our marriage, a friend of ours told us to ‘knock it off.’ I looked at her and asked what she was talking about. She explained then that our love for each other was so visible, it was ridiculous. We just looked at each other and laughed and told her we would work on that.

The enemy has sunk its teeth into every aspect of our lives. Using Hollywood to portray what marriage should look like. Using musicians to express what love is. Taking whatever action he can to break up the traditional marriage. The wedding vows clearly stated, ‘for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health to death do us part’. However, when things get bad in any of these categories, divorce happens. Whenever there is a miscommunication or hurt feelings, larger arguments occur, and divorce happens. The ‘death do us part’ aspect has been erased. The enemy has come in and convinced us that if we are not one hundred percent in sync one hundred percent of the time, it is a failure, and we should start over. The enemy has convinced us that if one is seriously ill, that the other deserves a life too, and to cut strings now. The enemy has used the family unit as a pivotal point in building his under-kingdom. Stating that Sundays are the perfect day for ‘family’ time … setting godly time to the back burner. The list continues.

My husband and I have had some serious fights … not physical, but in our early years I would have been the one to strike first because my temper was so out of control. We have had more than our fair share of financial woes. We have had child death. We have had health issues. But the one thing we have also had … that has made us stronger … is God. We did not understand it at the time, but in retrospect it is ever so clear … God put us together. God kept us together.

When you put God in the center of your marriage, the enemy has no footing to stand on. When you put God in the core of your marriage, the enemy’s attempts to split you up fall in the fire. When you put God in the center of your marriage, you will struggle, you will fight, but YOU will persevere because you have a power that most do not … The true power of Love.

Thirty-four years today is the living proof that I can offer. Putting God first, regardless of how long it takes you to get there, completely satisfies the emptiness and fills the chasms of doubt and fear of unworthiness to be happy. It is possible, you need only surrender.

Be blessed today my friends.

***But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33
