Unconverted Christian: There are people around the world who claim to be followers of Christ. They go faithfully to church each week and some even participate in leading out. They greet their fellow members with a smile and appear to be the picture of holiness. But sadly, once they leave church, they leave their “godliness” behind. The drive home is filled with gossip about who they saw that day. “Did you see that short skirt the deacon’s wife was wearing?” “The music was so bad today it hurt my ears.” “The pastor went on and on today about nothing; he obviously put no thought into his sermon this week.” The unconverted Christian continues their unchristlike behavior throughout the rest of the week with their holier-than-thou attitudes, criticism, and judgment. How sad it must make God to see the self-righteous hearts of His children. Too many fail to realize that Christianity goes beyond just going to church - you must also have the ability to represent Christ every day, wherever you go, whatever you do. You must do more than just claim to “love” God. The Bible says in 1 John 2:4, “He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” And in 2 Timothy 3:5 we’re told, “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” Don’t just “talk the talk,” but “walk the walk” as a true Christian by surrendering your heart and life to Jesus and striving each day to be more like Him. When you do, you won’t need to make a big announcement about how holy you are because God’s love will be evident through your humility, unselfishness, and kindness to others. If you really want to inspire someone, don’t show them how great you are, help them see how good and great God is. Nothing will bring you greater peace than sharing God’s love as a true converted Christian. Text: 1 Peter 2:16, Isaiah 29:13, Titus 1:15-16, Matthew 23:27-28
