Ephesians 1:1-10 RSV
Ephesians 1:1-10 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are also faithful in Christ Jesus;
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
He destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,
to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
which he lavished upon us,
For he has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will, according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ
as a plan for the fulness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
2 Corinthians 1:3-14 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our afflictions, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too
If we are afflicted, it is for our comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer.
Our hope for you is unshaken; for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.
For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of the affliction we experienced in Asia; for we were so utterly, unbearable crushed that we despaired of life itself.
Why, we felt that we had received the sentence of death; but that was to make surely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead;
he delivered us from so deadly a peril, and he will deliver us; on him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.
You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us in answer to many prayers.
For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience that we have behaved in the world, and still more toward you, with holiness and Godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God.
For we write you but what you can read and understand; I hope you will understand fully,
as you have understood in part, that you can be proud of us as we can of you, on the day of the Lord Jesus.
John 1:10-14 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not.
He came to his own home, and his own people received him not.
But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God;
who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.
