THE ETERNAL FLAME — PASSING THE FIRE TO THE NEXT GENERATION
“One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4
The fire that burns on the altar of our hearts was never meant to die with us. God’s plan is generational; His glory, power, and anointing must move from fathers to sons, from mothers to daughters, from generation to generation. Just as the fire on the altar in the tabernacle was to burn perpetually, the fire of revival, holiness, and passion for God must be preserved and passed on.
When Moses ascended Mount Sinai, he received not just laws but a divine fire of revelation. That same fire rested on Joshua. When Elijah ascended, Elisha cried out for a double portion—and the mantle fell. When Jesus ascended, He sent the Holy Ghost fire upon His disciples at Pentecost. Every great move of God must become a relay, not a monument. The tragedy of many generations is that they watch the flame die because they fail to pass it on.
The continuity of spiritual fire depends on intentional impartation. Fathers must teach, train, and model devotion. Spiritual mothers must nurture intercession and purity in the next generation. Churches must disciple, not just entertain. The fire is not kept alive by enthusiasm but by example and endurance.
In 2 Timothy 1:5–6, Paul reminds Timothy of the “unfeigned faith” that was first in his grandmother Lois and mother Eunice and commands him to “stir up the gift of God” within him. This is generational fire transfer — faith caught, not just taught.
The end-time Church must prioritize this transfer. We are not merely called to burn; we are called to ensure that others burn after us. Our ceiling must become the floor of the next generation.
Let the next generation not find cold altars and empty pulpits. Let them find blazing hearts, burning testimonies, and living examples of holiness and faith.
