THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
The Clock.

“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.’” John 11:25
It hangs there on my wall as a constant reminder. It appears worthless and just collects dust. Not many people notice—they walk right past it. It’s silent and broken.
It once was a vibrant, useful tool with a purpose; but now it’s just an heirloom —useless, really—of little value to the world. I haven’t forgotten, though. When I gaze at it I can still hear the laughter that surrounded it. I can still see the little bird waiting to make its timely appearance with a bold announcement of another approaching hour.
There are many memories surrounding that work of art. Most precious are those of the hands that cared for that dear cuckoo clock. To the owner, it is a treasure, and so are we in the hands of our Creator. Never forgotten, never cast away. We may feel abandoned, broken, and of no use to this world. We may have memories of a better time when we had purpose and life. Maybe it’s because of time, or because our bodies are aging. Maybe we can’t do things we once did with ease. Maybe we’re broken because the world has hurt, abused, and deserted us, and like that old clock, we think no one notices.
Someone does, though; and just as I look lovingly at my grandmother’s clock, our Heavenly Father looks at us with His great love. Even though I don’t have the touch that can restore life back into my beloved timepiece, I know Someone who does. To Him, we are valuable. We are a precious masterpiece—His very own creation! After all, He found us so precious that He died to restore us! He is the Resurrection, and with one breath, He can bring life to the dead!
