✝️ When the Light of Your Cross Shone When the light of Your cross shone, O Only-Begotten of the Father, we no longer saw death, but we beheld the light of life shining from the tomb, for You, in Your goodness, descended into Hades, dissolved the forces of evil, destroyed by Your power the dominion of death, and raised up those who in hope were awaiting Your coming. Because of Your death for us, Your descent into Hades, and Your glorious resurrection, we cry out to You, O Crucified One, saying: O Jesus, Life, remove the power of my death. O Jesus, Crucified, enlighten my life. O Jesus, King, shut the mouth of Hades. O Jesus, Victorious, loosen the bonds of my captivity. O Jesus, Light, dispel the darkness of my fears. O Jesus, Sweet, receive me in Your embrace. O Jesus, Only One, make me a son of Your Father. O Jesus, Risen, grant me the victory of Your life. O Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me. Here I am, placing my life in Your hands, crying out that my body and blood are an offering for Your love. I follow You, my Lord, to Golgotha to die with You. I rest in my tomb in the light of Your resurrection. Neither the sword, nor death, nor the forces of the present world, nor the forces of the age to come can snatch my soul from Your hands, O Good Shepherd. Therefore I cry out to You: O Jesus, who art in the bosom of the Father, receive me as You received the right-hand thief. O Jesus, who by Your death put death to death. O Jesus, who in the tomb nullified the power of corruption. O Jesus, who rose again, establish me as the first Adam. O Jesus, ever-living, make me according to Your likeness. O Jesus, Sweet, remove the bitterness of death. O Jesus, Life, wash away the curse of hatred. O Jesus, Life-giver, anoint me with the anointing of my baptism. O Jesus, the Son, restore me to the rank of sonship. O Jesus, Only One, make me a partaker of Your inheritance.
