Moses—My Servant

A Journey of Faith and Obedience
Moses' life is an enduring example of faith and obedience to God. When the Lord called Moses out of the burning bush (Exodus 3:4–12), he was hesitant and felt unworthy, but he trusted the God who assured him, "I will certainly be with you." From facing Pharaoh to extending his hand across the Red Sea with total faith that God would intervene, his faith gradually increased. His audacious words, "Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord" (Exodus 14:13), continue to reverberate throughout history, serving as a reminder to believers that genuine faith endures even in the face of hardship. God's powerful deliverance and the path to Israel's freedom were made possible by Moses' obedience.
A Prayerful Heart and a Close Relationship with God
More than a leader, Moses was a prayerful man. Every time Israel rebelled or sinned, he fell on his face before God and begged for forgiveness and mercy. According to Exodus 32:11–14, his intercession dispelled God's wrath and revealed a heart that mirrored the Lord's own compassion. “The Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend,” according to the Bible (Exodus 33:11). This is such a lovely image of intimacy and elegance! Moses prayed as a friend who had God's people in his heart; his words were more than just words. Because of his humility and meekness (Numbers 12:3), God's power and presence were able to flow through him powerfully.
God's Hand Leading Until the End
God's Spirit-shaped wisdom and patience were demonstrated by Moses' leadership throughout Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. After guiding them through the wilderness trials and teaching them the laws of holiness, he reminded the Israelites to love and obey the Lord who had saved them. Moses was faithful even though he was unable to enter Canaan, and he had peace in his heart as he gazed upon the Promised Land from Mount Nebo. Deuteronomy 34:5–6 states that Moses, the Lord's servant, died in the land of Moab and was buried by the Lord. "There arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face," the Bible says at the end (Deuteronomy 34:10). God's hand will faithfully lead us to the end if we walk in faith, obedience, and prayer, as his journey serves as a reminder.
