Good morning everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Today is my first day back to clerking. Not sure I remember how. It has been a few months, and in this industry…that is an eternity of things that have changed. Fortunately for me, my customers know I am an airhead, so we can make this a fun day all around.

Yesterday during my writing time, I would occasionally switch over and surf music or thoughts that came to mind. One of the videos that came to mind was one that has been acted out in a multitude of churches. It is ‘Everything’ by Lifehouse. This re-creation of the music is a summation of our walk with Him.

In these representations, you are found and walking closely with Jesus. He shows you one miracle of creation at a time, one beauty at a time, all the while holding you close, and you stay close because it is peaceful and warm. Then, a single item of the world steps in and dances you away from Him. That one distraction stays between you and Jesus. Then another distraction, and another, and another and another…the representations are boy/girlfriend, money, appearance, self-loathing, then deep depression in the form of suicide. All these pieces standing in the way of you and Him. All the while, he is pulling for you to return to him. You finally feel His tug and start to run back to Him, but the distractions stand in your way shoving you to the ground and keeping you from Jesus. With perseverance you make it to him, and He presses passed the distractions to shield you from them. While on your knees asking for forgiveness, he puts the distractions on their backsides.

This video is one of the best representations of our walk out there. We come to him. We walk with him. Something shiny or interesting catches our eye. We investigate, leaving him. We fall into a pit of ugly and have to claw our way back to him, all the while not feeling worthy of Him and failing many times. However, once we make the choice and push through our flesh desires, the love that He gives to our return is … well it is amazing. And …. He does it each time we distracted and return.

If you are in a place where you have been distracted or even if you purposefully have walked away, Jesus is waiting to hold you again and to give you peace. You need only to press through the desire to quit and touch the hem of his garment. I promise you won't regret it.

I am living proof.

Be blessed today my friends.

***Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and portion forever. – Psalm 73:1-3, 26
