Amos 2:4-8 NKJV
Amos 2:4-8 Thus says the LORD; "For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they have despised the law of the LORD, And have not kept His commandments. Their lies lead them astray. Lies which their fathers followed.
But I will send a fire upon Judah, And it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem."
Thus says the LORD; "For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for silver, And the poor for a pair of sandals.
They pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor, And pervert the way of the humble. A man and his father go in to the same girl, To defile My Holy name.
They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge, And drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
Hosea 12:2-6 "The LORD also brings a charge against Judah, And will punish Jacob according to his ways; According to his deeds He will recompense him.
He took his brother by the heel in the womb, And in his strength he struggled with God.
Yes, he struggled with the angel and prevailed; He wept, and sought favor from him. He found him in Bethel, And there He spoke to us--
That is, the LORD God of hosts, The LORD is His memorable name.
So you, by the help of your God, return; Observe mercy and justice, and wait on your God continually.
Micah 6:1-5 Hear now what the LORD says; "Arise, plead your case before the mountains, And let the hills hear your voice.
Hear, O you mountains, the LORD's complaint, And you strong foundations of the earth; For the LORD has a complaint against His people, And He will contend with Israel.
"O My people, what have I done to you? And how have I wearied you? Testify against Me.
For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, I redeemed you from the house of bondage; And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
O My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled, And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him. From Acacia Grove to Gilgal, That you may know the righteousness of the LORD.
2 Kings 17:7-18 For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who has brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and they had feared other gods,
and had walked in the statutes of the nations whom the LORD had cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
Also the children of Israel secretly did against the LORD their God things that were not right, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from watching-tower to fortified city.
They set up for themselves sacred pillars and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree.
There they burned incense on all the high places, like the nations whom the LORD had carried away before them; and they did wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger.
for they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, "You shall not do this thing."
Yet the LORD testified against Israel and against Judah, by all of His prophets, every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments and My statues, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets."
Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in then LORD their God.
And they rejected His statues and His covenant that He had made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He had testified against them; they followed idols, because idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them.
So they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, made for themselves a molded image and two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger.
Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.
2 Corinthians 8:10-14 For if anyone see you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?
And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.
