Amos 5:1-7 NKJV


Amos 5:1-7 Hear this word which I take up against you, a lamentation, O house of Israel;

The virgin of Israel has fallen; She will rise no more. She lies forsaken on her land; There is no one to raise her up.

For thus says the Lord God; "The city that goes out by a thousand Shall have a hundred left, And that which goes out by a hundred Shall have ten left to the house of Israel."

For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel; "Seek Me and live;

But do not seek Bethel, Nor enter Gilgal, Nor pass over to Beersheba; For Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, And Bethel shall come to nothing.

Seek the LORD and live, Lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, And devour it, With no one to quench it in Bethel--

You who turn justice to wormwood, And lay righteousness to rest in the earth!"

Jeremiah 7:29 'Cut off your hair and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the desolate heights; for the LORD has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath."

Jeremiah 29:10-14 For thus says the LORD; After seventy years are completed at Babylon. I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart,

I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.

Amos 4:1-6 Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, Who oppress the poor, Who crush the needy, Who say to your husbands, "Bring wine, let us drink!"

The Lord God has sworn by His holiness; "Behold, the days shall come upon you When He will take you away with fishhooks, And your posterity with fishhooks.

You will go out through broken walls, Each one straight ahead of her, and you will be cast into Harmon," says the LORD.

"Come to Bethel and transgress, At Gilgal multiply transgression; Bring your sacrifices every morning, Your tithes every three days.

Offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, Proclaim and announce the freewill offerings; For this is love, You children of Israel!" Says the Lord God.

"Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, And lack of bread in all your places; Yet you have not returned to Me." says the LORD.

Isaiah 55:1-11 "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat, Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.

Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you-- The sure mercies of David.

Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people, A leader and commander for the people.

Surely you shall call a nation you do not know, And nations who do not know you shall run to you, Because of the LORD your God, And the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you."

Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD.

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

"For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Amos 6:12-14 Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

You who rejoice over Lo Debar, Who say, "Have we not taken Karnaim for ourselves By our own strength?"

"But, behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel," Says the LORD God of hosts; "And they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamath To the Valley of the Arabah."
