Joel 1:11-18 NKJV
Joel 1:11-18 Be ashamed, you farmers, Wail, you vinedressers, For the wheat and the barley; Because the harvest of the field has perished.
The vine has dried up, And the fig tree has withered; The pomegranate tree, The palm tree also, And the apple tree--All the trees of the field are withered; Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; Wail, you who minister before before the altar; Come, lie all night in sackcloth. You who minister to my God; For the grain offerings and the drink offering Are withheld from the house of your God.
Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the LORD your God, And cry out to the LORD.
Alas for the day! For the day of the LORD is at hand; It shall come as destruction from the Almighty.
Is not the food cut off before our eyes, Joy and gladness from the house of our God?
The seed shrivels under the clods, Storehouses are in shambles; Barns are broken down, For the grain has withered.
How the animals groan! The herds of cattle are restless, Because they have no pasture; Even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment.
Joel 1:8-10 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth For the husband of her youth.
The grain offering and the drink offering Have been cut off from the house of the LORD; The priests mourn, who minister to the LORD,
The field is wasted, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine is dried up, The oil fails.
Jeremiah 4:7-9 The lion has come up from his thicket, And the destroyer of nations is on his way. He has gone forth his place To make you land desolate. Your cities will be laid waste, Without inhabitant.
For this, clothe yourself with sackcloth, Lament and wail, For the fierce anger of the LORD Has not turned back from us.
"And it shall come to pass in that day," says the LORD, "That the heart of the king shall perish, And the heart of the princes; The priests shall be astonished, And the prophets shall wonder."
Jeremiah 30:4-9 Now these are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and Judah.
"For thus says the LORD: 'We have heard a voice of trembling, Of fear, and not of peace.
Ask now, and see, Whether a man is ever in labor with child? So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins Like a woman in labor, And all faces turned pale?
Also! For the day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob's trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.
'For it shall come to pass top that day,' Says the LORD of hosts, 'That I will break his yoke from your neck, And will burst your bonds; Foreigners shall no more enslave them.
But they shall serve the LORD their God, And David their king, Whom I will raise up for them.
Isaiah 3:1-9 For behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah The stock and the store, The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water;
The mighty man and the man of war, The judge and the prophet, And the diviner and the elder;
The captain of fifty and the honorable man, The counselor and the skillful artisan, And the expert enchanter.
"I will give children to be their princes, And babes shall rule over them.
The people will be oppressed, Every one by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder, And the base toward the honorable."
When a man takes hold of his brother In the house of his father, saying, "You have clothing; You be our ruler, And let these ruins be under your power."
In that day he will protest, saying, "I cannot cure your ills, For in my house is neither food nor clothing; Do not make me a ruler of the people."
For Jerusalem stumbled, And Judah is fallen, Because their tongue and their doings Are against the LORD, To provoke the eyes of His glory.
The look on their countenance witnesses against them, And they declare their sin as Sodom; They do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves.
Hosea 4:1-6 Hear the word of the LORD, You children of Israel, For the LORD brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land; "Therefore is no truth or mercy Or knowledge of God in the land.
By swearing and lying, Killing and stealing and committing adultery, They break all restraint, With bloodshed upon bloodshed.
Therefore the land will mourn; And everyone who dwells there will waste away With the beasts of the field And the birds of the air; Even the fish of the sea will be taken away.
"Now let no man contend, or rebuke another; For your people are like those who contend with the priest.
Therefore you shall stumble in the day; The prophet also shall stumble with you in the night; And I will destroy your mother.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
