Joel 2:3-11 NKJV

Joel 2:3-11 A fire devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely nothing shall escape them.

The appearance is like the appearance of horses; And like swift steds, so they run.

With a noise like chariots  Over mountaintops they leap, Like the noise of a flaming fire that devours the stubble, Like a strong people set in battle array.

Before them the people writhe in pain; All faces are drained of color.

They run like mighty men, They climb the wall like men of war; Every one marches in formation, And they do not break ranks.

They do not push one another; Every one marches in his own column. Though they lunge between the weapons, They are not cut down.

They run to and fro in the city, They run on the wall; They climb into the houses, They enter at the windows like a thief.

The earth quakes before them, The heavens tremble; The sun and moon grow dark, And the stars diminish their brightness.

The LORD gives voice before His army, For His camp is very great; For strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; Who can endure it?

Isaiah 51:1-6 "Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the LORD; Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.

Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him."

For the LORD will comfort Zion, He will comfort all her waste places; He will make her wilderness like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in it, Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

"Listen to Me, My people; And give ear to Me, O My nation; For law will proceed from Me, And I will make My justice rest As a light of the peoples.

My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on My arms they will trust.

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished.

Revelation 9:6-12 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.

They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth.

And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle.

They had tails like scorpions, and thier were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months.

And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name of Apollyon.

One woe is past. Behold, Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.

Jeremiah 9:17-22 Thus says the LORD of hosts; "consider and call for the mourning women, That they may come; And send for skillful wailing women, That they may come.

Let them make haste And take up a wailing for us, That our eyes may run with tears, And our eyelids gush with water.

For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion; 'How we are plundered! We are greatly ashamed, Because we have forsaken the land, Because we have been cast out of our dwellings.'"

Yet hear the word of the LORD, O women, And let your ear receive the word of His mouth; Teach your daughters wailing, And everyone her neighbor a lamentation.

For death has come through our windows, Has entered our places, To kill off the children--no longer to be outside! and the young men--no longer on the streets!

Speak, "Thus says the LORD; 'Even the carcasses of men shall fall as refuse on the open field, Like cuttings after the harvester, And no one shall gather them.'"
