DIVINE WHISPER – RECOGNIZING GOD’S VOICE IN THE LAST HOUR
LESSON 7: BARRIERS THAT BLOCK US FROM HEARING GOD’S VOICE

ANCHOR VERSE:

Isaiah 59:2 (KJV)
"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."

INTRODUCTION

God is always speaking, but not everyone is hearing. Just as static can block a radio signal, spiritual barriers can dull our ears to His whisper. Identifying and removing these barriers is essential if we are to walk in clear fellowship with the Lord in this last hour.

Common Barriers to Hearing God’s Voice

1. Unconfessed Sin
Sin builds a wall between us and God.
Psalm 66:18 – “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.”

2. Busyness and Distractions
A crowded schedule leaves no room for God’s whisper.
Luke 10:41–42 – “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful.”

3. Unbelief
Doubt makes us deaf to God’s promises.
Hebrews 3:12 – “Take heed… lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.”

4. Pride and Self-Will
When our heart is set on our own way, God’s voice is drowned out.
Proverbs 16:18 – “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

5. Unforgiveness
A bitter heart blocks spiritual sensitivity.
Mark 11:25 – “When ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any.”

6. Love for the World
A worldly heart is too noisy to discern God’s whisper.
1 John 2:15 – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”

REAL-LIFE EXAMPLE

A young believer wanted to hear God’s direction for marriage. But at the same time, he was entertaining secret sin and holding grudges against family members. No matter how much he prayed, clarity never came. Only after repenting, forgiving, and setting his heart right did God’s direction become clear.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. Which of these barriers may be hindering me right now?

2. Have I allowed busyness to replace my quiet time with God?

3. Am I clinging to pride, bitterness, or worldliness that drowns His whisper?

4. What step of repentance or surrender must I take today?

CALL TO ACTION

Set aside quiet time today to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any barriers in your heart. Write them down, confess them before God, and intentionally lay them aside. Create space for His whisper—by removing the noise.
