THE ADVENT TRUTH
Jesus summarized the entire law in one sentence: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Matthew 22:37). That’s not a light command—it’s the foundation of what it means to truly follow God. To love Him isn’t just to feel affection or say the words—it’s to surrender our will, obey His commands, and reflect His character in our lives (John 14:15). Love is not passive; it transforms the heart and manifests in obedience, humility, and holiness.

If simple belief were enough, then Satan himself would be a saved Christian. James 2:19 says, “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” The difference between a believer and a follower is obedience. The demons believe in God’s existence and power—but they refuse His rule. Real love produces submission; false love produces excuses.

Acts 17:30 reminds us, “The times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent.” In other words, ignorance was once tolerated—but not anymore. Once truth reaches your ears, God holds you accountable to walk in it.

And Jesus warns in Luke 12:47-48 that the servant who knew his master’s will but didn’t act will receive many stripes, while the one who didn’t know will receive few. The punishment fits the level of knowledge rejected. The more light we receive, the greater our responsibility to live by it.

So loving God means more than believing—it’s responding to truth with obedience. It’s living in surrender, even when it costs comfort or popularity. Because one day, what we did with the truth we knew will testify for or against us.
