The Remedy for Doubt
2 Peter 1:19-21 All this only confirms for us the message of the prophets, to which you will do well to attend, because it is like a lamp shining in a murky place, until the day breaks and the morning star rises to illuminate your minds.
BUT FIRST NOTE THIS: no one can interpret any prophesy of Scripture by himself.
For it was not through any human whim that men prophesied of old; men they were, but, impelled by the Holy Spirit, they spoke the words of God.

I knew of thee then only by report, but now I see thee with my own eyes.
Therefore I melt away; I repent in dust and ashes.

When the LORD had finished speaking to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, 'I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken as you ought about me, as my servant Job has done.
Romans 10:14-17 How could they invoke one in whom they had no faith? And how could they have faith in one they had never heard of? And how hear without someone to spread the news?
And how could anyone spread the news without a commission to do so? And that is what Scripture affirms; How welcome are the feet of the messengers of good news!'
But not all have responded to the good news. For Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed our message?
We conclude that faith is awakened by the message, and the message that awakens it comes through the word of Christ.
Acts 26:17-18 I will rescue you from this people and from the Gentiles to whom I am sending you.
I send you to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, from the dominion of Satan to God, so that, by trust in me, they may obtain forgiveness of sins, and a place with those whom God has made his own."
Romans 15:4-7 For all the ancient scriptures were written for our own instruction, in order that through the encouragement they give us we may maintain our hope with fortitude.
And may God, the source of all fortitude and all encouragement, grant that you may agree with one another after the manner of Christ Jesus,
so that with one mind and one voice you may praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In a word, accept one another as Christ accepted us, to the glory of God.
