Hosea 4:12-19 NKJV

Hosea 4:12-19 My people ask counsel from their wooden idols, And their staff informs them. For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray, And they have played the harlot against their God.

They offer sacrifices on the mountaintops, And burn incense on the hills, Under oaks, poplars, and terebinths, Because their shade is good. Therefore your daughters commit harlotry, And your brides commit adultery.

"I will not punish your daughters when they commit harlotry, Not your brides when they commit adultery; For the men themselves go apart with harlots, And offer sacrifices with a ritual harlot. Therefore people who do not understand will be trampled.

"Though you, Israel, play the harlot, Let not Judah offend. Do not come up to Gilgal, Nor go up to Beth Aven, Nor swear an oath, saying, 'As the LORD lives'--

"For Israel is stubborn Like a stubborn calf; Now the LORD will let them forage Like a lamb in open country.

"Ephraim is joined to idols, Let him alone.

Their drink is rebellion, They commit harlotry continually. Her rulers dearly love dishonor.

The wind has wrapped her up in its wings, And they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.

Israel 1:27-31 Zion shall be redeemed with justice, And her penitents with righteousness.

The destruction of transgressors and of sinners shall be together, And those who forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

For they shall be ashamed of the terebinth trees Which you have desired; And you shall be embarrassed because of the gardens Which you have chosen.

For you shall be as a terebinth whose leafs fades, And as a garden that has no water.

The strong shall be as tinder, And the work of it as a spark; Both will burn together, And no one shall quench them.

Deuteronomy 23:17-18 "There shall be no ritual harlot of the daughters of Israel, or a perverted one of the sons of Israel.

"You shall not bring the wages of a harlot or the price of a dog to the house of the LORD your God for any vowed offering, for both of these are an abomination to the LORD your God.

Hosea 9:15-17 "All their wickedness is on Gilgal, For there I hated them. Because of the evil of their deeds I will drive them from My house; I will love them no more. Al their princes are rebellious.

Ephraim is stricken, Their root is dried up; They shall bear no fruit. Yes, were they to bear children, I would kill the darlings of their womb."

My God will cast them away, Because they did not obey Him; And they shall be wanderers among the nations.

Hosea 12:9-14 "But I am the LORD your God, Ever since the land of Egypt; I will again make you dwell in tents, As in the days of the appointed feast.

I have also spoken by the prophets, And have multiplied visions; I have given symbols through the witness of the prophets."

Though Gilead has idols-- Surely they are vanity-- Though they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal, Indeed their altars shall be heaps in the furrows of the field.

Jacob fled to the country of Syria; Israel served for a spouse, And for a wife he tended sheep.

By a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet he was preserved.

Ephraim provoked Him to anger most bitterly; Therefore his Lord will leave the guilt of his bloodshed upon him, And return his reproach upon him.

Matthew 15:10-20 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, "Hear and understand;

"Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."

Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?"

But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.

"Let them alone, They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch."

Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Explain this parable to us."

So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding?

"Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated?

"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.

"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies,

"These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

Micah 3:10-12 Who build up Zion with bloodshed And Jerusalem with iniquity;

Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No harm can come upon us."

Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest.
