On Sunday morning, 18 June 1995, Steve Hill (an itinerant revivalist) started preaching at the Brownsville Assembly of God. His text was on Psalm 77 verses 11-12.
He prophesied that God was going to do something special, “Every person who is dry will be drenched by rain”. At the end of his message, he gave an altar call and only 6 people came forward.
He told the rest of the congregation that when in was in Argentina (where he served as a missionary with Carlos Annacondia), he didn’t realize that he was so dry until God came and soaked him. He asked those who needed more of God to come forward.
One thousand did; half of the congregation. The majority of people just collapsed on the floor as Steve Hill and John Kilpatrick laid hands on them. It was Father’s Day; and the Spirit of God finally showed up! Kilpatrick had been praying for a revival for 2.5 years and it finally came. This revival would last 5 years with daily revival services (the church only closed for 2 weeks over the course of 5 years).
