Ecclesiastes 1:1-5 NKJV
Ecclesiastes 1:1-5 THE words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
"Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher; "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity."
What profit has a man from all his labor In which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes away, and another generation comes; But the earth abides forever.
The sun also rises, and the sun goes down, And hastens to the place where it arose.
Psalm 39:1-13 I SAID, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me."
I was mute with silence, I held my peace even from good; And my sorrow was stirred up.
My heart was not within me; While I was musing, the fire burned. Then I spoke with my tongue;
"LORD, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am.
Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah
Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them.
"And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.
Deliver me from all my transgressions; Do not make me the reproach of the foolish.
I was mute, I did not open my mouth, Because it was You who did it.
Remove Your plague from me; I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.
When with rebukes You correct man for iniquity, You make his beauty melt away like a moth; Surely every man is vapor. Selah
"Hear my prayer, O LORD, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Remove Your gaze from me, that I may regain strength, Before I go away and am no more."
Psalm 62:1-12 TRULY my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
How long will you attack a man? You shall be slain, all of you, Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
They only consult to cast him down from his high position; They delight in lies; They bless with their mouth, But they curse inwardly. Selah
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Surely men of low degree are a vapor, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapor.
Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.
God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this; That power belongs to God.
Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy; For You render to each one according to his work.
Psalm 19:1-14 THE heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from the end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgements of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold, Yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.
Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.
Ecclesiastes 7:20-22 For there is not a just man on earth who does good And does not sin.
Also do not take to heart everything people say, Lest you hear your servant cursing you.
For many times, also, your own heart has known That even you have cursed others.
