Good morning, everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
I hope you are ready for a good little giggle. I think it is cute.
Sunday evening, around 10 pm, the prompts for the new competition came in. So, when I opened the email, the first thing that appeared … the genre … Vampire Romance. Yeah. I was like, hmm. How do you make an unalive fictional character who literally murders to live show unconditional love and forgiveness? I mean, Twilight has already been done. The other prompts were easily enough to incorporated into a story, but I needed an umbrella or genre that worked with me.
When I expressed the prompts to a good friend, she did offer an idea of vegan vampires who only drink plant-based blood. Where I did laugh very loudly at this concept and … and even tried to formulate a potential story while on our adventure yesterday, I just could not envision two completely in love vampires, wearing crosses around their necks, in a church on Sunday morning, singing Power in the Blood. Just saying.
Ultimately, when we returned home, I exercised my right to draw a new prompt. I had one available for the genre and seven for the other prompts. I only used the genre one. In doing so, I traded Vampire Romance for Heist. In my opinion, a much easier and more flexible concept to wrap my mind around. This is actually the first time I have ever NOT used what they originally sent me. He has always provided a complete story … even when I did not see one.
Regardless of how versatile I would like to be in the writing world, with the ability to turn any story into a story of His love, and though all my stories are written under the Fiction category, the possibility of a probable outcome must be present. I want you to read my stories and see a ‘real’ possible encounter. Never do I want to insinuate that something is possible when it is not. In this case, there was no way to NOT glorify the world and diminish our faith. So I opted for a different path.
When we come up against an obstacle or choice that will not in any way, shape, or form glorify the Father and his Kingdom but mock it … we must step away from the situation. Regardless of the consequences. The enemy will play a card that you were placed there on purpose for Him, but in reality, (he) deceived you into participating with his lies and schemes. We must hold true to our own convictions as to His plan for our lives and know the signs to walk away.
Yes, my situation in this storyland is not life and death in the earthly form; however, it could have led me to a different life and death situation. I am not willing to risk that. I like my climate control destination of Heaven.
Every day we make choices. Every day we have opportunities. Every day we have situations where the enemy tries to trip us up. Every day … every day we have Him to guide us.
Be blessed today my friends.
