THE ADVENT TRUTH
The Bible teaches that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But Catholicism teaches that Mary was conceived without original sin—a doctrine called the Immaculate Conception—claiming she was preserved from Adam’s fall and lived a sinless life. Yet this idea has no foundation in Scripture. Mary herself confessed, “My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:47). If she needed a Saviour, then she, like every other human being, was born under the effects of sin and needed grace!
The Bible says sin entered through one man, Adam, and “death passed upon all men” (Romans 5:12). There are no exceptions besides Christ, who alone “knew no sin” (2 Corinthians 5:21). The doctrine that Mary was exempt is not biblical—it was invented over 1,800 years after the cross to exalt her to a near-divine status. But there is “one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
Catholicism also twists the teaching of original sin—teaching that babies must be baptized to remove Adam’s guilt, when Scripture teaches we are judged for our own sins (Ezekiel 18:20). Baptism is a symbol of faith and repentance, not a magic ritual to erase inherited guilt.
Friends, truth matters. False doctrines about Mary, sin, and salvation strike at the heart of the gospel. Christ alone lived sinless, and died to save sinners. We must lovingly but firmly protest every error that obscures His glory. “Come out of her, My people” (Revelation 18:4).
Let’s stand on the Word of God, not tradition. Let’s lift up the true Mediator, the spotless Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world—because no other name under heaven can save us.
