THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
The Angel of Blessing

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:11

God has many ways through which He can bring an answer to our prayers, but this still remains as one of the 3ABN mysteries from about 25 years ago. I call this the Mystery of the Angel of Blessing.

It all started when someone presented a prayer request during our morning devotional at 3ABN. The person requested prayer to be able to borrow a tent, or for God to provide the funds for one to go on a camping trip. “I would really like to go, and if anyone is willing to lend me one, please let me know.”

That prayer request was made on a Thursday, and I believe it was the following Monday that she happily shared a praise report. “I was able to go camping this weekend, and it was a wonderful and uplifting experience. I want to thank whoever did this for me. I found a tent outside my door with a note that I’d like to read to you. It says, ‘I hope you enjoy your camping trip,’ and it was signed, ‘The Angel of Blessing.’ Well, I don’t know who you are, but thank you very much!”

A few days later, someone else announced that they had received a gift that made it possible for them to take a short vacation trip and, once again, the note was signed “The Angel of Blessing.”

For a few weeks, from time to time, we heard praise reports during our morning worships of things the Angel of Blessing did for others; and for me, it is still an unresolved mystery. Now, it may have been one person, or it could be that others got involved answering their prayers. But, for some reason, the person chose to remain anonymous.

If we stop and consider the many things God does for us, we will quickly realize we can never outgive the Lord. In fact the Bible says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits,

the God of our salvation! Selah.” Psalm 68:19. And it may just be that this person—the Angel of Blessing, that is—realized that when we do things for others, God considers it done unto Him, as He says in Matthew 25:34–40.

Perhaps, you may decide to be the Angel of Blessing to others; and if you do, to God be the glory.
