Opening Scriptures before the Message
Isaiah 55:11 KJV Dake's Reference So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I set it.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
3 Concerning the Scriptures
2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts;
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Ho'ly Ghost.
How to hear and understand the Gospel
VII Jehovah and Job, Jehovah's first discourse, (1) Jehovah's demands
Job 38:1-3 THEN the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
2. Jehovah's second discourse, (1) Four questions about Job
Job 40:6-7 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Gird up thy loins now like a man; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
Job 42:4-7 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
I have heard of the by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth thee.
Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
VIII Jehovah's and Job's three friends
And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to El'-i-phaz the Te'man-ite My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
(7) How faith is received
Romans 10:14-17 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For E-sa'-ias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Acts 26:17-18 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gen'tiles, unto whom now I send thee,
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Sa'tan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Romans 15:4-7 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Je'sus;
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Je'sus Christ.
Wherefore receive ye one another as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
