1 Kings 18:25-35 NKJV
1 Kings 18:25-35 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, "Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it."
So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, "O Baal, hear us!" But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, "Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened."
So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.
And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
Then Elijah said to all the people, "Come near to me." So all the people came near to him. and he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down,
And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD had come, saying, "Israel shall be your name."
Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.
And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on then wood, and said, "Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.
Then he said, "Do it a second time," and they did it a second time; and he said, "Do it a third time," and they did it a third time.
So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water,
Psalm 115:1-8 NOT unto us, O LORD, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.
Why should the Gentiles say, "So where is their God?"
But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.
Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men's hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see;
They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell;
They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat.
Those who make them are like them; So is everyone who trusts in them.
1 Kings 19:9-10 And there he went into a cave, and he spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
So he said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life."
Exodus 20:22-26 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel; 'You have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
'You shall not make anything to be with Me--gods of silver or gods of gold you shall not make for yourselves.
'An altar of earth you shall make for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you.
'And if you make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone; for if you use your tool on it, you have profaned it.
'Nor shall you go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed on it,'

Therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering,
bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
