Good morning, everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
We survived yesterday. After arriving at our scheduled time, we were notified that the doctor was running quite a bit behind. Since it was early in the morning, I was like this cannot be a good thing. How can you be so far behind this soon in the day? Come to find out later, there had been an emergency that had called him away from his scheduled surgeries. Fair.
Instead of going in at 11, he went in at 1230. Not terrible. Not pleasant for my husband because he was quite hangry. Nevertheless, he was back. Surgery took about the two hours they thought it would, and then he had to be flat on his back for 4 hours. (Thankfully not the six it could have been.) Since they had pushed his surgery back, the length of time needed to perform the surgery and the flat time, we were certain that he would land himself an overnight stay. However, that was not the case, and we were able to come home just after 6 pm.
When the doctor came in, he advised that once they got in, he realized that there was no need for a stint. So, they only took pictures. At first, I was quite upset because … over the last month, we have had several blood tests, X-rays, Ultrasounds, and CTs of this area. He even did an ultrasound before the procedure. I am not a doctor, however, with all this technology … and recent films (as it were) … how could you NOT see that the procedure was not necessary. That being said, in the process of doing the picture taking, he seemed to have cleared something along the way, and the pulse in my husband’s feet and ankle improved tremendously. So!
There are so many spiritual lessons in yesterday’s adventure. I could pick apart the entire day and write a paper for a week on each thing. However, my attention span is not that detailed and disciplined, so we will shoot for the bigger picture here.
We do not always understand the path that we are on. We do not always see the forest for the trees. We do not always comprehend the reasoning. Sometimes, that is necessary so that we will get what we are supposed to have.
I do not know if the camera adventure will help the swelling in his legs, but I am positive that it will provide some kind of answers. I am thankful that the doctor recognized the need to stop the plan and divert to a secondary option when he saw that the full procedure would be for nothing and perhaps cause even further issues. I am thankful that my husband got a full night’s sleep and woke up himself.
The … one of the hardest parts of walking with Jesus is not seeing what he sees. We are in a time period where we can see everything at the touch of a button, almost. Instantly, we are informed. However, I believe that ability has done more harm than good…in a lot of ways. Though we can instantly research something and get those answers, that one item may only be a small fragment of the puzzle. We need to be able to stay the course and wait for the finished puzzle to be completely revealed.
Jesus has that answer. All He asks is that we believe in Him and His plan and stay the course. No matter how difficult is becomes.
Be blessed today my friends.
***Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make our paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. – Proverbs 3:5-8
