Jonah 2:1-10 NKJV Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish's belly.
And he said; "I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.

For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the floods surrounded me; All Your billows and Your waves passed over me.

Then I said, 'I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.'

The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head.

I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God.

"When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple.

"Those who regard worthless idols Forsake their own Mercy.

But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD."

So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Psalm 31:19-24 Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You In the presence of the sons of men!

You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues.

Blessed be the LORD, For He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city!

For I said in my haste, "I am cut off from before Your eyes"; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried out to You.

Oh, love the LORD, all you His saints! For the LORD preserves the faithful, And fully repays the proud person.

Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the LORD.

Lamentations 3:43-54 You have covered Yourself with anger And pursued us; You have slain and not pitied.

You have covered Yourself with a cloud, That prayer should not pass through.

You have made us an offscouring and refuse In the midst of the people.

All our enemies Have opened their mouths against us.

Fear and a snare have come upon us, Desolation and destruction.

My eyes overflow with rivers of water For the destruction of the daughter of my people.

My eyes flow and do not cease, Without interruption,

Till the LORD from heaven Looks down and sees.

My eyes bring suffering to my soul Because of all the daughters of my city.

My enemies without cause Hunted me down like a bird.

They silenced my life in the pit And threw stones at me.

The waters flowed over my head; I said, "I am cut off!"

Psalm 16:5-11 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.

The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.

I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me to the night seasons.

I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices, My flesh also will rest in hope.

For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 18:1-6 I WILL love You, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliver; My God, my strength, In whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

The pangs of death surrounded me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
