THE ADVENT TRUTH
While the world celebrates Halloween, heaven remembers a very different event that took place on October 31, 1517. On that day, Martin Luther, a humble monk armed with the Word of God, nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany — striking the match that helped to fuel the Protestant Reformation.

The Reformation wasn’t about rebellion. It was about revival — a call to return to the authority of Scripture over the traditions of men. It proclaimed that salvation is by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), not by indulgences, rituals, or human merit. It reminded the world that the Bible, not the church, is the final rule of faith and practice. That bold stand shattered centuries of darkness and superstition, bringing light to a world that had forgotten God’s Word.

Yet, tragically, the same day that once symbolized truth over error has been hijacked by Halloween, a celebration rooted in paganism and spiritual darkness. The Bible says, “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” (Ephesians 5:11). Christians have no business glorifying death, fear, or the occult when our Savior conquered the grave and offers eternal life.

Reformation Day reminds us that the protest isn’t over. Truth still needs defending. The same forces that tried to silence Scripture are alive today — but so is the Spirit that raised up reformers who would rather die than deny the truth.

Today, don’t blend in with the world. Stand with those who stood for the Word. Celebrate Reformation Day, not Halloween. Light and darkness cannot share the same day — or the same heart.

“The entrance of Thy words giveth light.” — Psalm 119:130
