THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
God’s Precious Thoughts

By Rosemary Malkiewycz November 2nd

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand….” Psalm 139:17–18

Do you have a favorite Psalm? One of my favorites is Psalm 139 because it speaks to me of God’s wonderful love and protection. I love my sons, and would do anything to protect them. I hate those things that could harm them, especially spiritually. God is like that with us, and David gives us a deeper look into the interest He manifests towards us.

In this psalm, King David is contemplating how personal God is to us. He knows everything about us, everything we do, and where we go. We cannot get away from Him. His eyes see us when we stand up or sit down. He knows everything we think, and what we say. We cannot run away or hide from Him. While thinking about these things, David exclaims in verse 6, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it.”

No matter where we go, what we do or say, God is there, watching, knowing. He doesn’t do this because He’s trying to catch us so He can punish us, but because He has a deep love and interest in each one of us, individually. God cares about us and wants to look after us. As soon as we call for help, He hears. He’s been waiting for us to acknowledge His presence and our need of His help.

The part of this psalm that touches me the most is when David realizes the immensity of God’s thoughts about him. Do you know that you’re never out of God’s thoughts? He thinks about you all day and all night. His thoughts toward you are more than the grains of sand in the sea. You could never count them. That thought is so deep, it strikes me as one of the most awesome things in the world. God loves me so much that He thinks about me all the time! He thinks about you all the time, as well.

You are never alone to struggle through life’s trials. God is with you, thinking about you, waiting for you to finally realize you cannot make it through life on your own and you need His Almighty help. He is waiting to give it to us. We just have to call out to Him. He knows where you are, what you are doing and what is happening in your life. Read this Psalm and see that God cares about you more than anyone else ever could. He was even watching over you before you were born (vs 15–16)!
