To God be the Glory
(stanza 2)
“O perfect redemption, purchased of blood,
To every believer the promise of God,
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.”

This stanza proclaims the heart of the gospel – redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ! It is freely offered to all who believe, no matter how sinful they have been. It emphasizes grace, faith, and instant forgiveness.
“O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood”
Redemption means being bought back from slavery to sin. The “purchase of blood” refers to Christ's sacrifice on the cross as the price for our salvation.
(Eph. 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”)
(1 Pet. 1:18-19 “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (vs. 19) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”)
(Rev. 5:9 “And they sang a new song, saying: You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,”)
“to every believer the promise of God”
The promise is salvation – eternal life through faith in Christ – available to every without distinction.
(Jn. 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”)
(Rom. 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (vs. 10) for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
NOTE: Salvation isn't limited to a few – it is offered to every believer who trusts in the promise of God.
“The vilest offender who truly believes”
This emphasizes that no sinner is beyond God's grace!
Even the “vilest offender” - someone deeply guilty – can be saved through genuine faith!
(1 Tim. 1:15 “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”)
(Lk. 23:42-43 “Then he said to Jesus, Lord remember me when You come into Your kingdom. (vs. 43) and Jesus said to him, Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise”)
NOTE: The gospel reaches to the lowest and most broken – that is the power of grace.
“that moment from Jesus a pardon receives”
Salvation is immediate – the moment one believes, forgiveness is granted through Christ.
(Jn. 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who went Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed form death into life.”)
(Acts 16:31 “So they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”)
(Rom. 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to whose who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”)
NOTE: Forgiveness doesn't come gradually, it is instantly applied by the grace of Jesus!
