DAILY DEVOTION - November 3rd
Peace and Gratitude
Colossians 3:15 (NKJV)
(And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be
thankful.)
Peace and gratitude are inseparable companions. When God’s peace rules the heart, thanksgiving
naturally flows. But when anxiety reigns, gratitude is quickly forgotten. Paul’s words remind us that
being thankful is not a reaction—it’s a response to the ruling peace of Christ within us.
In a world filled with unrest, God calls His people to be ruled by peace and marked by gratitude.
When peace governs, fear loses authority. Gratitude is the language of hearts at rest in God’s
sovereignty.
As part of A Heart of Gratitude, this verse teaches us that a thankful heart is the foundation of spiritual
harmony. Peace keeps us grounded in unity with others and anchored in the confidence that God is in
control.
Reflection Questions:
1. What competes for peace in my heart today?
2. How can I let gratitude guard my heart against anxiety?
3. Who in my life needs encouragement through a thankful word from me?
Prayer:
Lord, let Your peace rule my heart. Quiet every anxious thought with Your presence. Teach me to live
with gratitude that reflects Your goodness and brings unity in Your body. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Practical Application:
● When anxiety strikes, pause and thank God for one thing right then.
● Text or call someone to thank them for their positive impact in your life.
● Keep a peace-and-praise journal of answered prayers.
Takeaway Thought:
Where peace rules, gratitude reigns—and together they protect the heart.
