Confidence Is Silent
Life has a way of knocking you down when you least expect it, sending your confidence levels plummeting. When at rock bottom, you tell yourself that you’re not good enough or smart enough, you’re a total loser, and even make the mistake of comparing yourself to others. Suddenly, you begin to criticize everything about yourself: your looks, your weight, your hair, your clothes, and no matter how hard you try, nothing feels right. If you think you are all alone with these critical feelings, think again. Even the most confident person has moments of insecurity, self-doubt, and self-loathing. But there is a way to overcome these crippling negative thoughts. Place your confidence in God, not yourself. When David faced Goliath, he didn’t talk about how dangerous Goliath was; he talked about how great God is! Slow down and have some quiet time with Jesus. Talk to Him about your fears and ask for strength to overcome them. Claim Psalm 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” Be intentional about increasing your alone time with God, making sure you are listening . . . as well as talking. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” Remember, confidence is silent - insecurity is loud. Whatever event pushed you over the edge, pray for strength, and get up. Sometimes your worst enemy is your memory - let go of the negative thoughts and past failures! To be all that God wants you to be and to achieve great things requires action. Just keep moving forward. Successful men and women make mistakes, but they don’t quit. Text: Hebrews 10:35-36, 2 Corinthians 12:9, 2 Timothy 1:7, Hebrews 4:16
