DAILY DEVOTION - November 5

The Father of Lights

James 1:17 (NKJV)

(Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with
whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.)

All gratitude begins with the recognition of the Giver. James reminds us that every good thing in our
lives flows from the unchanging nature of God. He is the Father of lights—steady, radiant, and
faithful—never shifting like shadows or seasons.

When we realize that all we have originates from Him, our hearts fill with humility and thankfulness.
Gratitude becomes worship when we look beyond the gift and honor the Giver.

The theme Gratitude & Generosity takes root here. A grateful heart that recognizes God as source
becomes a generous heart that reflects His character. Knowing He never changes gives us
confidence to trust Him again tomorrow.

Reflection Questions:

1. What blessings in my life have I taken for granted?

2. How can I remind myself that every good thing comes from God?

3. What can I give today as an expression of gratitude to the Father of lights?

Prayer:

Father of lights, thank You for every perfect gift You have given. Keep me mindful of Your goodness
and steady in gratitude. May my life reflect Your generosity and light. Amen.

Practical Application:

● Thank God aloud for five specific gifts today—both big and small.

● Write a thank-you message to someone who has been a blessing in your life.

● Share one resource or act of kindness to bless another.

Takeaway Thought:

Gratitude shines brightest when it points back to the Giver of every good gift.
