Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

I am up a full hour and a half earlier than my alarm was set for. I woke up thirty minutes before that. No reason, just decided that the dark in my room needed to be stared at. The bonus is that I now have ‘plenty’ of time for my morning routine. Haha.

One of the shows that my husband and I watch has a character who is winning against addiction. His family was struck with a tragic death, then what felt like a takeover in the family business, division among the ranks, and the matriarch sided with the takeover. At the end of the episode, the character winning against his addiction caved to the pressure and took a pill … however … right at the climax of that scene, he changed his mind and made himself vomit the pill into the sink. He beat the temptation. Where this show is not God centered specifically, that was the best example of overcoming temptation that I have ever seen.

This addict had concealed this baggie of pills for presumably months. Someone close to him expressed her concern for keeping such a temptation nearby. He confided that he had disposed of them … a lie. Multiple times, he did position himself to dispose of them in private, but was always interrupted by a witness. Thus holding on to the temptation. Then, when it appeared that it did not matter, that right was no longer attainable, he took the pill. Just before there was no turning back, he coughed/vomited it back up.

That was God.

The secrets, the lies, the cover-ups, the concealing … that is all darkness. The desperate move to just give up and give in … that was darkness. Each time that he tried to remove the temptation in private and was interrupted … that was darkness. But when he needed Him most, He was there and saved him. The Holy Spirit leaned in and whispered, ‘I got you’, and the character expelled the pill. Thus showing just how powerful that whisper can be. The same is true in our lives here.

Whatever you are struggling with today, know that doubt, fear, anxiety, depression, financial woes, none of that is from the Father of Light; it is all from the father of darkness. The enemy will twist the truth and convince you that the Holy Spirit is a myth and/or a crutch that you do not need. However, the still small voice that is whispering for you to tighten your grip on His hem on the cloak, to stand firm against this adversity, that is the voice who truly loves and cares for you. He whispers so that you know it is him, chaos brings the noise, truth is done quietly so that chaos has no home there.

Today I encourage you to sit in silence with our Father in heaven and speak to him with all your heart and soul. Tell him where you feel you are and pray for guidance and strength.

Be blessed today my friends.
