Standing on God’s Authority

Scripture

Numbers 16:28 (NKJV)
And Moses said, By this you shall know that the Lord has sent me to do all these works, for I have not done them of my own will.

God’s Calling, Not Man’s Ambition

In this verse, Moses responds to Korah’s rebellion—a challenge against his God-given leadership. Moses makes it clear that his position and authority were not self-appointed but divinely assigned. He was not acting out of pride or ambition but obedience. This moment revealed a vital truth: when God calls a person to serve, He equips and confirms that calling.

For believers today, this verse teaches us humility and discernment in leadership. True servants of God do not seek power or recognition but walk in obedience to His will. Likewise, we must be careful not to resist or speak against those whom God has appointed, recognizing that His purposes often work through human vessels.

This verse also reminds us that our own ministries, roles, and callings must be rooted in God’s direction, not in personal ambition. When we act under His authority, His power and presence validate our work.

Reflection Questions

1. Do I serve from a place of obedience to God or from personal ambition or pride?

2. How do I respond to those God has placed in authority over me?

3. Am I seeking to do God’s will or my own in the work He has entrusted to me?

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for the privilege of serving You. Help me to walk in humility and obedience, not in pride or self-promotion. Teach me to respect Your authority and to serve faithfully where You have called me. Let my life and leadership always reflect Your will. In Jesus name, Amen.
