Reigning with Christ.

November 5, 2025

It comes as a surprise to many that the Bible teaches that the saints, God’s people, will take part in the judgment of the wicked. The righteous have already been judged at this point (Revelation 14:7) and spend the millennium in heaven. But today’s text teaches that “judgment was committed to” the saved. God’s people will not determine salvation; rather, we participate in reviewing the lives of those who rejected the gospel and affirming heaven’s need to eradicate sin and sinners.

The Bible teaches of this act of judging by the righteous elsewhere. Paul states, “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?” ?(1 Corinthians 6:2, 3).

During the thousand years that the saints are in heaven, they will judge both the wicked and the fallen angels. In God’s great plan to eliminate sin, the Lord wants to remove every question in every mind about the loss of a family member or friend. After reviewing the books, all of heaven and every being will agree that God’s judgments are just.

Even at the end of the millennium, the wicked will also conclude, “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested” (Revelation 15:3, 4).

Of special note in today’s passage are two groups who participate in this judgment: those who were martyrs for God and those who refused to receive the mark of the beast. While all the saints will reign with Christ, these two groups have suffered the most.

Dear God, You are righteous in all Your ways. Thank You for providing a time in which indisputable evidence will reveal Your justice.

For Further Study: Psalm 122:5; Nahum 1:9; Matthew 19:28

Key Bible Texts

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4 KJV)
