Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Je'-sus was born in Beth'-le-hem of Ju'dae'-a in the days of Her'-od the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Je-ru'-sa'lem,

saying,

Question in the Bible

Where is he that is born King of the Jews?

for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Matthew 27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JE'-SUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Matthew 2:4-6 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

And they said unto him, In Beth'-le-hem of Ju'dae'-a; for thus it is written by the prophet.

And thou Beth'-le-hem, in the land of Ju'-da, art not the least among the princes of Ju'-da; for out of there shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Is'-ra-el.

Luke 2:1-5 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cae'-sar Au-gus'-tus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cy-re'-ni-us was governor of Sry'-i-a.)

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Jo'-seph also went up from  Gal'-i-lee, out of the city of Naz'-a-reth, into Ju-dae'-a, unto the city of Da'-vid, which is called Beth'-le-hem; (because he was of the house and lineage of Da'-vid;)

To be taxed with Ma'-ry his espoused wife, being great with child.
