Searching For Hope NIV

Hebrews 6:4-6 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit,

who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age

and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

An Oath By Someone Who Can't Lie

Hebrews 6:9-20 Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case--the things that have to do with salvation.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.

We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

The Certainly of God's Promise

When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,

saying, "I will surely bless you and give you many descendants."

And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument.

Because God wanted to make make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath.

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Our Hope Is in Jesus

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our Hope,

Praise to God for a Living Hope -A Living Hope

1 Peter 1:3-10 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ in his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil of fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,

who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith-- of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-- may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care,

Thanksgiving and Prayer- hope stored up for you in heaven

Colossians 1:3-10 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God's people--

the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already in the true message of the gospel

that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world-- just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace.

You learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,

and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,

so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

hope does not put us to shame - Abraham had it
