Searching For Hope ESV

Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit,

and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come,

and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

it is impossible for God to lie

Hebrews 6:9-20 Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things--things that belong to salvation.

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.

And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end,

so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

The Certainty of God's Promise

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself,

saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you."

And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.

For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation.

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath,

so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

Greeting-Our Hope Is in Jesus

1 Timothy 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope.

Born again to a living hope

1 Peter 1:3-10 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials

so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ .

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not see him , you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about this grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully,

Thanksgiving and Prayer- the hope laid up for you in heaven

Colossians 1:3-10 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

since we heard of your faith In Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints,

because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,

which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing--as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth,

just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant.

He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him; bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

hope does not put us to shame - Abraham had it
