Is King James onlyism a cult and idolatry? Yes it is a cult . They are brainwashed to thinking King James Bible is the only English Bible for the English speaking person. They are told that other Bible translation are demonic. Instead of judging other translation by the Greek or Hebrew manuscripts they are judged by the King James Bible. Kjv states this , NIV states this . You see Kjv is God's word and NIV is not that is some of the arguments. I once sadly heard a lady from that group tell me kjv was good enough for Paul and Silas and it's good enough for me. Not knowing 1611 kjv was many years after Paul and Silas . Not everyone thinks that way but that lady was truely convinced by her kjv church she was carrying a English translation dating from the time of Paul . When I first became a Christian I got into this mindset that KJV was the only Bible to be trusted but then I saw that there are places where KJV don't show the deity of Christ more clearly or the personhood of the Holy Spirit more clearly than other translations. I also saw how the KJV influence many of the cults. Like Daniel 8 verse 14 were should be translated evening and morning is translated into days which lead to the advantist cult belief of the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary.
