The Glorious Names of Jesus Christ: A Revelation of His Divine Nature and Saving Grace

By Pastor Joseph Clark

Scripture reveals the names and titles of Jesus Christ as a radiant tapestry—each one displaying His divine nature and redemptive work. To know His names is to know His heart.

Jesus

The name Jesus (Yeshua) means “The Lord saves.” It captures His entire mission—sent from heaven to save His people from their sins through His life, death, and resurrection.

Light of the World

“I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). In a world darkened by sin, Christ shines with divine truth and guidance, bringing clarity and hope to all who follow Him.

The Faithful and True Witness

As “the faithful and true witness” (Revelation 3:14), Jesus perfectly reveals the Father’s will and love, assuring us of the reliability of God’s Word.

The Only Begotten Son

John 3:16 proclaims Him the “only begotten Son.” He is uniquely divine—God’s eternal Son who became man to redeem us through sacrificial love.

The Lamb of God

“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Christ is the spotless sacrifice whose blood redeems us from eternal death.

The Good Shepherd

“I am the good shepherd” (John 10:11). He knows His sheep, lays down His life for them, and faithfully guides and protects His flock.

Alpha and Omega

“I am the Alpha and the Omega” (Revelation 22:13). Christ is eternal—beginning and end, holding all creation together by His power.

Emmanuel

Meaning “God with us” (Matthew 1:23), Emmanuel declares that God came near—sharing our sorrows and offering reconciliation and life.

Redeemer

“I know that my Redeemer lives” (Job 19:25). Jesus bought our freedom with His blood, restoring us to fellowship with the Father.

Prince of Peace

He alone reconciles man to God, bringing rest and assurance to all who trust in Him.

Messiah / Christ

The Hebrew Messiah and Greek Christ both mean “Anointed One.” Jesus fulfills every prophecy as God’s chosen King, Priest, and Prophet who brings salvation to all believers.

The Word (Logos)

“In the beginning was the Word” (John 1:1). As the eternal Logos, Jesus is the full revelation of God, through whom all things were made.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

“I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Christ alone bridges the gap between God and man, offering eternal life to all who believe.

Bread of Life & Living Water

He nourishes and satisfies the soul—our spiritual sustenance and refreshment through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Reigning above all powers, His kingdom is everlasting. Every knee will bow before Him in glory (Revelation 19:16).

One Name, Infinite Glory

Every name of Jesus reveals His majesty—our Light, Shepherd, Redeemer, and King.

“Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name above every name…” (Philippians 2:9–10).

All glory to Jesus Christ—our Lord and Saviour
