Feel like God's withholding something from you? The bottom line is that God's refusals are always merciful. Or like St Augustine said "severe mercies", but it's still mercy. He let the children of Israel go into exile as a way of getting their attention. Just be sure to know that if you're going through a tough patch, that doesn't mean God doesn't love you and it doesn't mean that God's hurting you for something that you did.
