I just love going to Church. I always learn something new. Like prayer. The difference between a prayer of commitment and a prayer of petition.
Commitment: Dear Lord, if it is Your Will. Meaning that I will commit to His will in doing something, sometimes things I may not want to do.
Petition: We KNOW it is God's Will that He will answer our prayers of petition. Such as for healing. We should not be starting the petition prayer with "If it is your will" WE KNOW IT IS HIS WILL that we be healed. Another example is when we pray for those who need to be saved. Don't say "If it is your will". WE KNOW IT IS HIS WILL that ALL be saved. Therefore, we should be praying, "Lord God Almighty, we come to you in the Name of Jesus and pray for the sinner to be touched by You and that You open his/her heart to hear Your message of salvation. That You show him/her Your Mercy through Your Son, Jesus. That Jesus died for them on the cross so that they may have ever lasting life. Amen"
What a powerful message, at least to me. From now on I will check myself, is this something I am petitioning for or committing to. I will now adjust my prayer accordingly. For I know that God WANTS me to have great blessing and reward in my life here and in the next. I also know that God wants to me to do great things here.
I pray for His guidance in making the correct prayer.
