Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

We were blessed with another showing of the Northern Lights last night. Though where I am, I was only able to witness the brighter white in the dark sky, some of the pictures shared by friends have been amazing.

Yesterday was one of those rare occasions when I actually went to the doctor. As they took my history, they were amazed at two things…I have a boring history and two how long it has been since I have been to the doctor. After reassuring them that I was not delusional in my health care, I had not been to a doctor because I did not need one. By the end of the overall visit, I was betting my doctor a plate of freshly baked snickerdoodles that I was right. She took the bet in fun…not that she wanted me to have anything wrong, but she was also sure that I was right. During the appointment, we played back and forth, and at the end, I told her that she needed to do me a favor…eagerly, she looked up…I told her to breathe… thank you for being concerned, but this is just a formality in my head before my retirement next spring. Right after that, we bet the cookies. Haha.

I drive doctors … and my friends … crazy because I will not go to the doctor. My bestie in Texas has offered to come up and transport me. My bestie here in town has offered to help with my Texas transport. It is hilarious. They agreed to cuff and stuff me to make sure that I went. It took another 8 years, but I went. Haha.

I am one of what appears to be the minority these days … very healthy. I was blessed with a great immune system. I never damaged it with party drugs, cigarettes, and the alcohol in my life did not last very long. My biggest threat to my health was Mt.Dew, and that has been out of my life for 7 years or so. Now my downfall is Kit Kats. (or a snickerdoodle Twix…yum). My second downfall is that I am not active enough. I used to walk at least five miles a day; now, if I walk one in the course of my day, it is a miracle.

I have known, most of my life, how lucky or blessed that I am. I have watched friends battle one issue after another, most coming out on top, but still, the battle was real. I have watched my husband attack one obstacle after another, only to find more and more hurdles to leap. My kids have begun fighting their own battles in the health department, yet here I sit with my biggest obstacle is not buying a candy bar on my way out of the grocery store. The enemy is well aware of these circumstances and tries desperately to engage me in a battle of health wits. Once in a blue moon, he will conjure up something that I stew on for a piece, but that is few and far between.

God blessed me with a fantastically strong immune system. I have tried to honor that gift by not being overly compulsive or stupid with it. The greatest gift that He has given me, personally, is the gift of health. Writing is a part of that gift because it allows me to pour out my emotions onto the page and think through potential problems. Writing is my way of expressing things without sounding like a lunatic. (most of the time)

What small, or seemingly insignificant, item has God given you that you did not realize is a true gift? Is it your smile? Is it your empathy? Is it your laser focus to get things done? Is it your trait to keep things tidy? What is your gift that you do not look at as a gift?

There are many gifts that are doled out that we do not look at as gifts, but actually as hindrances. Today, I encourage you to look at those items and give thanks for them. Those items are what He needs from you to make a difference in the world and to build the Kingdom.

Be blessed today my friends.

***Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea’, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”—Matthew 21:21-22
