1 John 4:4-6 Exploring RSV
1 John 4:4-6 Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
They are of the world, therefore what they say is of the world, and the world listens to them.
We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us,
By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
John 14:25-31 "These things I have spoken to you, while I am still with you.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
You heard me say to you, 'I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me you would have rejoiced, because I go to my Father; for the Father is greater than I.
And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place, you may believe.
I will no longer much talk with you, for the ruler of the of this world is coming. He has no power over me;
but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go hence.
John 3:31-36 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth belongs to the earth, and of the earth he speaks; he who comes from heaven is above all.
He bears witness to what he has seen and heard, yet no one receives his testimony;
he who receives his testimony set his seal to this, that God is true
For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for it is not by measure that he gives the Spirit;
the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand.
He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.
1 Corinthian 2:12-16 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.
And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who possess the Spirit.
The unspiritual man does not receive the gifts of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
The Spiritual man judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.
"For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
