Romans 3:5-6 Exploring RSV

Romans 3:5-6 But if our wickedness serves to show the justice of God, what shall we say? That God is unjust to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.)

By no means! For then how could God judge the world?

Romans 1:18-21 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth."

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.

Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse;

for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened.

1 Thessalonians 1:8-10 For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Mac-e-do'-ni-a and A-cha'i-a, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything.

For they themselves report concerning us what a welcome we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

1 Thessalonians 2:14-16 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus which are in Ju-de'a; for you suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews,

who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out; and displease God and oppose all men

by hindering us from from speaking to the Gentiles that they may be saved--so as always to fill up the measure of their sins. But God's wrath has come upon them at last!

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep we might live with him.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing,

Genesis 18:22-33 So the men turned from there, and went toward Sod'om; but Abraham still stood before the LORD.

Then Abraham drew near, and said, "Wilt thou indeed destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; wilt thou then destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty  righteous who are in it?

Far be it from thee to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from thee! shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

And the LORD said, "If I find at Sod'om fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake."

Abraham answered,  "Behold, I have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes.

Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking? Wilt thou destroy the whole city for lack of five?" And he said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there."

Again he spoke to him, and said, "Suppose forty were found there." He answered, "For the sake of forty I will not do it."

Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry,  and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there." He answered, "I will not do it, if I find thirty there."

He said, "behold, I have taken  upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there." He answered, "For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.

Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there. " He answered, "For the sake of ten I will not destroy it."

And the LORD went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham; and Abraham returned to his place.
