Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
Last night I had difficulty falling asleep. No real rhyme or reason, just the AM static radio sound in my ears and my brain running like a bell clapper in a goose’s behind. This morning I still have the AM radio noise in my ears, but the soft piano music is helping.
Today is my son’s 27th birthday. How is that possible? I did the math to make sure I wasn’t losing my mind. 27. How? I found my favorite school picture of him and paired to his wedding day … the look of … ‘try me’ … is still very strong, but the passion for family strength is even stronger.
At some point, every year, sometimes multiple times during the year, I look at my kids and wonder. Did I do all that I could to mold them? Was I the example that they needed? Did I find the equal medium between standards and respect to compassion and empathy? Were my actions in line with what my words were saying? Since leaving my home, have I ensured that they know how much they mean to me and that my love is unconditional?
All parents go through this. It is part of being a parent. You know you were a good one when you question yourself like this. Why? Because you are holding yourself accountable.
Now, when you run different scenarios through your head, over the accountability questions above, do not allow the enemy to persuade you that you were one way or another. Seek the Father’s eyes on your actions. Did you make mistakes? Yes. Did you correct them to the best of your ability? Yes. Did you continue to fail? Yes. Did you show how to recover each time you fell? Yes. Did you show love and kindness, and did you hold true to boundaries? Yes. Did your kids ever NOT like you? Yes. Do they respect you for the lines you held when they tried to push through? Yes.
The enemy will use each of these questions to a standard or opposition that will lead you to think that you failed. When you feel that pressure, go to God in prayer. Lay down your concerns at his feet. He will calm your spirit. My children have been my most beautiful success … even in their failures. Why/How? Because they persevered and came out stronger on the other side. That is what a child of God can do.
The ugly moments and periods can be daunting, but the picturesque scene on the other side is more than fantabulous … it is wondiferous.
I use this example to also illustrate how the enemy will come for you and make you feel that the Father does not love you, or no longer loves you, or won’t ever love you because of …. That my friend is such a lie. God created you. You are perfect in His eyes. He is guiding you through the ugly of life and on the other side, your picturesque view will be absolutely wondiferous and fantabulous. The enemy knows that is trying to blind you from seeing it. Kick him to the curb and see yourself as the Father sees you.
His child.
Be blessed today my friends.
*** “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:9-11
