John 21:1-2 Exploring RSV

John 21:1-2 After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Ti-be'-ri-as; and he revealed  himself in this way.

Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Na-than'-a-el of Ca'na in Galilee, the sons of Zeb'e-dee, and two others of his disciples were together.

After this Jesus is

John 20:24-31 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.

So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe."

Eight days later, his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. The doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you."

Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side; do not be faithless, but believing."

Thomas answered him, "My Lord and My God!"

Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book;

but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

John 1:45-51 Philip found Na-than'-a-el, and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

Na-than'-a-el said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

Jesus saw Na-than'-a-el coming to him, and said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!"

Na-than'-a-el said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you,"

Na-than'-a-el answered him, "Rabbi, you are the son of God! You are the King of Israel!"

Jesus answered him, "Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these."

And he said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."

Matthew 4:18-22 As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fisherman.

And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zeb'e-dee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.

Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.
