Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.
What a wonderful blessing last night was. I had a date. With a handsome young man. He is a bit shorter than I am, but oh what a gentleman. My grandson had a Mother/Grandma/Auntie dance last night. Unfortunately, my daughter was too ill to take him, so my sister and I stood in her place. Yes, it took two old women to fill the shoes of my precious daughter.
The host group did a magnificent job at designing this dance to fit the mold for all ages. The dance area was set up almost disco style, and the gym was laid out in raffles, coloring, Legos, fidgets, yard checkers, flower making, large wooden blocks for Jenga or building, yard connect four, blow-up tic-tac-toe, and then the snack stand of cookies and juice. They understood the assignment and met all the areas for sons and dates could enjoy. Almost forgot…the photo booth.
I will admit, most of the music played, I did not recognize…however the DJ did play a couple that I knew, and we danced to those. The night was all about the memories for my grandson. He led the way. One time in the gym where the activities were, he was showing off how to do a bead/maze puzzle, and I went for a cookie. On my way back from the table, the heel of my boot caught a cookie particle on the floor, it imbedded, I slid to an almost fall, but God caught me and put me gently on one knee. I could not stand because my heel would not grip the floor with that cookie on it. I ultimately had to sit all the way down on the floor (no good for someone my size because you still need to get back up..haha), take my thumb nail and un-cookie my heel. After I was clean of cookie crumbled, I was able to get back to my feet. Of all the things to be taken out by…a cookie crumble.
Last night was but another enlightenment to how the Holy Spirit watches over me. How the enemy will use anything to try and take me down. And how no harm will come to me as long as I keep my focus.
A piece of cookie, something so small, something I saw on the floor and determined was not an issue, something so seemingly insignificant, tried to ruin my blessing. But … the Holy Spirit guided me down, turned it into a joke of immense proportion, and created a memory. I could have reacted negatively, caused a scene, ruined everyone’s night, made a butt of myself … but there was nothing to grant such an outcome. I saw it. I ignored it. I stepped on it. I went down by it. I cleaned it off my boot. I laughed at my lack of oversight.
In today’s world, too often we take the smallest of inconveniences (a cookie crumble) and create problems. Instead of seeing the blessing. My blessing in this circumstance … I did not fall. I was able to get down and get back up without assistance. And in my ‘moment’ created a laughable memory for my sister because she is the one who saw me first down on one knee proposing marriage to the air in hopes of not pulling anything or falling. It was a great time.
What in your life is a cookie crumble issue? How are you dealing with it? Are you creating a mountain out of a molehill? Did you jump in the deep end of the worry pool? I think it is the kid show Paw Patrol that says no problem too small or too big is too much for them … There is no problem that God cannot handle. If He can catch me from creating a 9.5 on the Richter scale, then He can help you through your day. I promise. Take your crumbles to Him. He is there. He is ready. He is willing. He loves you.
Be blessed today my friends.
***Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. –Romans 5:1-2
